Unearth Your Talent: Flower Pounding & Embroidery with Brenda Nickerson

August 10 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

The image shows a bright, playful banner with the words “UNEARTH A STORY™” in large, bold letters — “UNEARTH” in blue and “A STORY” in pink. On the left, a green dinosaur lounges on the grass beside a stack of books, while on the right, a purple pterodactyl perched on a branch reads an open book amid tropical plants and palm trees, creating a fun, prehistoric reading theme.

Unearth Your Talent

Flower Pounding & Embroidery

with Brenda Nickerson

Join local artist, Brenda Nickerson, as she unearths her talent of flower pounding, embroidery and applique. Flower Pounding is a fun art that uses a hammer to smash fresh flowers and leaves onto fabric. Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric using a needle and thread. You may also incorporate other embellishments like beads. The designs are sewn directly onto the material to add texture, color, and visual appeal. Applique is a decorative needlework technique where smaller pieces of fabric are cut and fused onto a larger background fabric to form a picture.

The image shows a framed piece of textile art featuring a dark blue appliquéd vase with embroidered flowers and leaves extending outward. The flowers are stitched in shades of yellow, purple, and pink with green leaves, displayed under glass in a light brown wooden frame on a tabletop.
Framed Completed Project Example
The image shows a close-up of detailed hand embroidery featuring colorful flowers stitched onto light fabric. The design includes yellow, purple, and blue blossoms with small golden beads in the centers and green stems, highlighting fine threadwork and texture.
